Tide Clock is a mobile application for Android and IOS devices by Tide Bandits limited in the UK.

Tidal data is typically published as just high and low water times or displayed as an x/y graph. Tide clock uses an analog clock to display the tide height, it also includes a sun dial, for hours of sunlight as well as weather and the sea / swell state, supplying all the information in a single application, in an easy to view format.

We use multiple data sources for the tidal information, weather and sea state, all of which we have to pay a license fee and / or a click charge, which is why this is a subscription application.

The UK admiralty is used for the UK and Ireland and we use the UK Met office for all weather data workd wide. 

 

The UK Admiralty data is the most accurate tidal data for the UK.

We use Worldtides for the rest of the world, which uses a variaty of sources for its data.

 

We tested various weather API forecasts, we settled on the Met office after quite a lot of testing as it was consistenly the most accurate for the UK and compareable to others that offered a world wide service.

You will see differences in the weather data displayed in Tide clock and that on the Met Office app / web site, The Met Office generate two forecasts, Global spot forecast was used by the Met office and is the forecast still used by Tide Clock, but since Jun / July 2024 the Met office switched to a new forecast system called “Site-specific blended probablistic forecast”, it is more expensive and not always more accurate (in our view).

Tide Clock License Agreement

TIDE CLOCK APPLICATION SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT

Effective Date: 1st March 2025

Licensor: Tide Bandits

Licensee: User of Tide Clock

Grant of License

Subject to compliance with this Agreement, Tide Bandits grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Tide Clock on a compatible device solely for personal, non-commercial use worldwide.

Restrictions

You agree not to:

  • Modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the app.
  • Distribute, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the app.
  • Use the app for any unlawful or prohibited activities.
  • Interfere with the security, functionality, or integrity of the app or its associated services.

Ownership & Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the app, including but not limited to copyrights, trademarks, and patents, remain the exclusive property of Tide Bandits. This Agreement does not transfer any ownership rights to you.

Third-Party Data & Copyrights

Tide Clock may display data from third-party APIs, each of which has its own copyright and terms of use. By using the app, you acknowledge that such third-party data is subject to their respective licenses and copyrights. A list of the APIs used, along with links to their copyright and terms, will be provided within the app or at [Link to API List]. Tide Bandits does not claim ownership over third-party data and is not responsible for its accuracy or availability.

Privacy Policy

By using the app, you consent to the collection and use of your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Fees & Payments

If the app requires payments, subscriptions, or in-app purchases, you agree to pay all applicable fees as outlined in the app store or within the app.

Reasonable Use Policy

Tide Clock is intended for personal use on a reasonable number of devices per user. Excessive installations, simultaneous use across multiple devices, or other activity that suggests misuse may result in the suspension or termination of your license at Tide Bandits’ sole discretion.

Updates & Support

Tide Bandits may provide updates or enhancements at its discretion. We are not obligated to provide ongoing support or compatibility with future OS updates.

Termination

This license remains in effect unless terminated. Tide Bandits reserves the right to revoke access if you violate any terms. Upon termination, you must delete the app and cease all use.

Warranty Disclaimer

The app is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” without any warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free functionality.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tide Bandits shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of or inability to use the app.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of this Agreement shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.

Amendments

We may modify this Agreement from time to time. Your continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

By installing or using Tide Clock, you agree to this License Agreement.

We do not store or track your location data ourselves.
